A Sick World

A homeless man was beaten to death in downtown Indianapolis last month.

A group of 5 teens approached 61-year-old Stephen McGuire, who was sleeping in the alley behind the Downtown Sheraton.  Security cameras later showed one youth kicking him in the head repeatedly.  Others stood by, cheering and laughing.  After they left the scene, they returned later with other friends to show off their doing, gawking at the lifeless body.

The article in the Indianapolis Star indicated that this wasn’t as a result of a personal vendetta.  Instead, it was merely a “bump,” which is slang for killing someone.

It’s sickening to think that killing has become a sport.  A pastime.  Merely “something to do” on a Friday night.  And Mr. McGuire was an innocent victim.  Someone who happened to be down on his luck and in the wrong place at the wrong time.

What is wrong with our culture?  *sigh.  We live in a sick world.

  1. This is horrible! I cannot believe that someone, anyone would do such a thing!
