The Desert

I’ve been thinking about the Israelites lately.  They wandered in the desert for 40 years.  It must have been hot.  (Although I’m sure their skin was darker than mine, they may have been sunburned.) I’d imagine they were wind-whipped.  Craving shade.  Tired of eating manna.

During the times I’m in a proverbial desert – those dry times when I feel like I’m wandering – it’s good for me to remember how He provided for the Israelites…food, a place to lay their weary heads, strength to walk one more day…

…and how He provides the same for me.

“Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Take an omer of manna and keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the wilderness when I brought you out of Egypt.’” -Exodus 16:32
