Baptism

I had the privilege of watching a dear friend get baptized this weekend.  He was one of 5 during the 11:00 a.m. service I attended, one of 26 over the course of the weekend.

Baptism participants at Grace have the opportunity to speak before they get baptized.  Listening to my friend talk, my eyes welled up with tears as I was reminded of the depths from which he was saved.  My heart swelled with pride in the man that proclaimed his love for God and his desire to take the next step in his faith journey by being baptized.  There, in front of over a thousand people, he made a public profession of his faith as he was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Congratulations, Johnny!  I love you, and I’m so proud of you!

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” -Mark 16:16
