A Near Death Experience
My friend almost died a few weeks ago. He was riding his Harley Davidson through Clay Terrace when he was struck by a car. As he was flying through the air, his life flashed before his eyes. Surprisingly, he was at peace with the idea that his life was going to end.
The amazing thing is that my friend is scared to death of death (pun intended). Prior to the accident, he feared it with every ounce of his being. He wondered when it would strike and if it would hurt. My friend doesn’t shy away from adventure or danger, so death was not far from his mind most of the time.
Thankfully, my friend walked away from the accident with little more than a sprained ankle, a dislocated thumb, and a renewed sense that life is precious. And that he no longer needs to fear death.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” –Romans 8:38
