Rain, Rain, Go Away…
I’m not a fan of rain. Even though I consciously know that we need rain – for example, in order for crops to grow – rainy days are ones that I dread. It’s a battle to get out of bed. I struggle to be productive. All I want to do is curl up on my couch and watch a movie.
I can’t imagine enduring 40 days of rain on an ark with a bunch of stinky animals. At the end of it all, God grants Noah and his family a rainbow, a promise that He will never again flood the earth.
I love seeing rainbows. They are beautiful reminders of God’s faithful covenant. But, as Dolly Parton says, “If you want the rainbow, sometimes you have to put up with the rain.”
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth…Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.” –Genesis 9:13, 15
