img_2714I spent this past weekend with my adorable niece, Anna.

We ‘cooked’ in her miniature kitchen.  We dressed and re-dressed her Mrs. Potato Head.  We drew pictures on her markerboard.

We ‘hid’ under the dining room table from the dog, whispering to each other about how we’d never be found.  In her little world, we were completely invisible.  (The visual: I’m on all fours.  My front half is quasi-under the table.  My back half is definitely not.)

We were in our secret hiding spot, and her face was about one inch from mine, when I said, I love you, Anna.

In response, she said, I wuv you too, Sreeeena.

I know she loves me.  I know it in the way she wants me to sit beside her at breakfast.  I know it in the way she wants me to put her down for her nap.  I know it in the way she crawls all over me on the couch.

Even though I consciously know she loves me, hearing her say the words absolutely warmed my heart.

Have you said those three little words to your wuved ones today?
